Professional oral hygiene in Vilnius
Effective removal of plaque and tartar, polishing, and advice on caring for your teeth day to day.
Oral hygiene and preventive dental care
A hygiene appointment is essential for preventing decay and periodontal disease. The hygienist removes hard and soft deposits, polishes the surfaces of teeth and fillings, and applies fluoride. This kind of care keeps teeth healthy for longer and protects the gums from inflammation.
We look after preventive care for both adults and children. For our youngest patients we offer fissure sealing, and for adults we can carry out whitening or even fit a tooth gem. Everything is adapted to the state of your mouth and what you want.
When should you book a cleaning?
We recommend professional hygiene for everyone every six months. It is worth coming sooner if:
- Your gums bleed when you brush.
- You notice bad breath that does not go away after brushing.
- You can see hard yellowish or brownish deposits along the gums.
- You drink a lot of coffee or tea, or you smoke, so your teeth stain faster.
- You wear braces or have implants, where plaque builds up more quickly.
- You are preparing for whitening, prosthetics or implants. Treatment works best in a clean mouth.
How the appointment works
The steps in the hygienist's room depend on the condition of your teeth, but the visit usually runs like this.
- 01
Assessment
First we examine the mouth and identify where tartar and plaque have built up most.
- 02
Tartar removal
Using special instruments and ultrasound, we remove the hard deposits that cause gum inflammation.
- 03
Air-flow plaque removal
The Air-Flow method lifts tobacco and coffee stains thoroughly, including from the hard-to-reach spaces between the teeth.
- 04
Polishing and fluoride
We polish the teeth and fillings and, where needed, apply fluoride to strengthen the enamel.
- 05
Protecting children's teeth
Children's molars can be protected from decay by sealing their fissures with a special material known as a sealant.

Frequently asked questions about teeth cleaning
-
How often should I have my teeth professionally cleaned?
We usually recommend every six months. If you have periodontitis, wear braces, smoke or build up tartar quickly, every three to four months is better.
-
Is the procedure painful?
For most patients it is not. You feel vibration and a stream of water. If your tooth necks are very sensitive or your gums are inflamed, we can numb the sensitive areas.
-
How long does a cleaning take?
Usually about an hour. If there is a lot of tartar or it has been a long time since your last cleaning, it may take longer or need a second visit.
-
Does Air-Flow damage the enamel?
No. The Air-Flow stream is made of fine powder, water and air. It removes soft deposits and stains without scratching the enamel, and afterwards we also polish the teeth.
-
What should I do after a cleaning?
For 2-3 hours avoid coffee, tea, red wine and other staining food and drink, because freshly cleaned teeth pick up colour more easily. Teeth may be more sensitive to cold for a few days, which passes quickly.
-
Can I have a cleaning while pregnant?
Yes, and it is even recommended, because gums become inflamed more easily during pregnancy. The most comfortable time is the second trimester. Let us know you are expecting when you book.
-
Will my teeth be whiter after a cleaning?
Cleaning removes coffee, tea and tobacco stains, so teeth look cleaner and brighter, but only up to their natural colour. If you want teeth whiter than that, choose whitening.

Aesthetic fillings Rebuilding damaged tooth tissue with modern, natural-looking fillings that restore both shape and function.
